Bad Mommy!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Cousin Brooke has ever so gently reminded me that my posting skills have been on the neglectant side lately- so here I go ;)
Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks!!!! Thats almost halfway done! More importantly, its only approximately 20 weeks until I get to meet/see/hold in my arms my little bean. I remember so vividly the moment that I first held Brielle- she was just SO beautiful to me. Watching her take those first breaths of air was so surreal, as was breathing in that perfect breath. I felt at that moment that everything was so natural, and I knew exactly what to do. After 10 months of wondering what will happen next, those feelings were oh-so-welcomed. I cannot WAIT to see what this baby will look like!
So mark your calendars- September 7th, 2007 at 3:30pm I will be having my 20 week ultrasound to check out the functioning of all little bean’s organs… AND his/her lil baby private parts! Dont worry, I wont be late updating the results. So what do you think? Another lil diva or a lil rocker man?
My nausea and other crappy pregnancy symptoms have mostly subsided, aside from my new sciatica pain. Its literally a pain in the a*s! I can start to feel that blissful 2nd trimester period that Ive been longing for. Better late than never!
Now for our physiological update: This is an impressive week for growth! Your baby weighs approximately 9 ounces nd is about 6 inches long. If you are having a girl, her ovaries now contain primitive egg cells. Lanugo (a covering of fine soft hair) appears all over the baby’s body. This fine hair will remain until birth draws nearer. Sometimes you can still see some on the baby’s face and ears after birth. Also apparent is vernix, a milky white covering that protects your baby’s skin from its aquatic environment. The placenta continues to grow and offer nourishment for your baby while the permanent teeth buds are forming behind the already formed milk teeth buds. Growth becomes rapid now and your baby begins to store iron for the production of red blood cells. Your baby can even dream (REM sleep)!
As for Brielle, she has been growing LEAPS AND BOUNDS these past few months. Aside from her physical changes (she is looking like such a big girl!), her vocabulary has gotten to rediculous heights and watch what you say- because she understands even more. I dont think she understands that there is a baby actually inside mommy’s belly, but she does call my belly “baby” and give it tons of kisses so Im not complaining ;) Her favorite things right now are singing itsy bitsy spider, carrying for her favorite baby dolls (including feeding, burping, and putting them to sleep), harassing Koda, and doing everything as a “big girl”. If you havent visited lately, you really should- she is hysterical!
I will try to upload new belly pics and pics of Miss Bug soon!
